Safety when handling lithium-ion batteries
Due to their chemical composition, lithium-ion batteries harbour an increased risk of fire. STÖBICH solutions ensure safety - from early fire detection to hazardous goods packaging for transport.
Dangerous accidents associated with energy storage systems occur time and again. For example, there was recently a major fire at a recycling plant in the south of France in which ➥ 900 tonnes of lithium-ion batteries went up in smoke. Fortunately, there was no danger to people, but the fire continued to burn into the night.
Innovative solutions for early fire detection such as the ➥ Fire Multi Detector from STÖBICH can prevent such incidents: Using optical sensors, the multifunctional tool detects heat, smoke and flames as soon as a fire starts.
Another issue is the ADR-compliant removal of critical lithium-ion batteries by the fire service. For this case, we have developed special transport boxes in various sizes, the ➥ StrainBoxes. The Goslar volunteer fire brigade, for example, has been working with these fire protection solutions for energy storage systems from STÖBICH for some time now.
