      Fire protection curtains

Fire protection curtains are seal openings in walls and ceilings in case of fire. The constructional set-up (rolling- or folding technology) and the use of different fabrics offer a wide application spectrum as well as different protection targets or classifications and time classes. Casings and side guides of those flexible applicable systems are integrated almost invisibly in the building and provide much scope for design of sophisticated architecture for opened designs.

    • Conveyor system closures

      Conveyor system closures

Manifold production - and logisitc processes require different construction types of conveying systems. If the haulage drifts are passing through fire-retarding resp. fire-resisting walls or ceilings, the necessary openings must be provided with fire protection closures to avoid the expansion of the fire by conveyor technique or by conveyed material. In case of fire the conveyor system closures have to seal those openings immediately and automatically. Thereby a classified fire resistance as well as the smoothly clearing of the closing area must be respected in case of release.

    • Smoke curtains

      Smoke curtains

A smoke curtain is part of unit keeping areas free from smoke and may include building parts like natural smoke and heat venting systems and automatic smoke and heat venting systems. Smoke curtains restrict the movement of fire gases inside a building in case of fire.

    • Smoke protection closures

      Smoke protection closures

In closed condition smoke protection closures restrict the passage of smoke in the phase of fire formation so as to enable the rescue of people, animals or materials assets in case of a fire in the room positioned behind it without the need of breathing protection.

    • Tube sealings

      Tube sealings

The solution to problems with fire protection dampers for ventilation and air conditioning systems in conveying processes. Stöbich offers fire protection for pneumatic conveying lines where the closing elements are not exposed to the flow. Thus, damage or contamination of the closure element is avoided by abrasive conveyed goods.

    • Controls

      Controls

Control systems are necessary for all automatic fire protection systems! They are safety-relevant, because without their function or in the event of a malfunction, the entire investment of a fire protection partition would be useless. Controllers coordinate both fire detection and the interaction with other controls, like superordinate building control or the retraction of the closing area at conveyor closing area.

Médiathèque Charles Nègre | Grasse, France

The Médiathèque Charles Nègre in Grasse, France, is an impressive example of contemporary architecture that reflects the cultural and historical importance of the region. The information center with space for education, culture and encounters was opened in 2011 and designed by the renowned French architecture firm Marc Barani. The building combines modern aesthetics with the traditional architecture of Provence, creating a harmonious link between old and new, for example by combining modern materials such as glass and steel with local natural stone. The generous window fronts create an atmosphere flooded with light. Ecological sustainability is achieved through natural ventilation and the resulting reduction in energy consumption; green spaces are also integrated on various levels. Our <a href="/us/solutions/fire-protection-curtains/stoebich-fire-smoke-curtain-hc"><b>➥ horizontal Fire and smoke curtain hc</b></a> fire protection curtains fit perfectly into this marvel of contemporary architecture. They securely close the ceiling openings in the event of a fire, but otherwise remain invisible and let in plenty of light and air. Copyright attribution: © Ivry Serres

Curtain up for Fibershield®-I

Curtain up for Fibershield®-I

Curtain up for Fibershield®-I

‘I’ for “isolation”:Thanks to the heat-insulating properties of the fabric, Fibershield®-I, as a fire protection closure of textile construction, manages without compensation measures such as sprinklers or fire-load-free zones. The system withstands the fire load just as well as a fire protection door or heat-insulating fire protection glazing. Fibershield®-I requires significantly less space on the wall, or more precisely around the opening. This in turn leaves plenty of room for design and at the same time creates valuable floor space. You can find more about the construction, fire resistance and proof of usability on our ➥ product page.

Less CO2 emissions thanks to less steel: Even during the production of the Fibershield®-I, the extra-thin cover plates on the housing and guide rails require even less steel than, for example, a fire door. Find out what else STÖBICH is doing and planning in terms of sustainability ➥ here.

Long live creative freedom!

  • The slim system requires only a small amount of space above the wall opening and can be integrated almost invisibly into the false ceiling. Fire protection requirements are met just as they are with solid solutions – but without disturbing the overall architectural effect.

  • The high-tech fabric is heat-insulating and makes it possible to have a fire barrier without the use of water and a fire-load-free zone (unlike curtains that do not insulate heat): this means that sprinkler systems, for example, are not required and high-quality interiors such as parquet flooring, carpets and unusual lighting are possible, even in historical buildings.

  • Due to its low weight and small size, the Fibershield®-I system is particularly suitable for retrofitting fire protection in existing buildings. Further information and application examples can be found in the white paper, which you can request using the contact form.

    MORE SPACE FOR WHAT MATTERS

    • Because every millimetre counts, the heat-insulating Fibershield®-I system does not require any compensation measures, unlike non-insulating fire protection curtains. The space immediately adjacent to the wall opening can be used effectively for the sale of goods or as storage space; nothing else needs to be kept free or installed (e.g. sprinkler systems).

    • The slim system, which can be integrated almost invisibly with its narrow housing and can be extended fully automatically in the event of a fire, creates additional space at the point of sale. This saves you additional space that would have to be kept free for conventional fire protection constructions such as hinged doors, sectional or sliding gates.

    • As an easy-to-install standard solution, Fibershield®-I has proven itself in planning, installation and application and meets the building code requirements for fire-retardant, highly fire-retardant or fire-resistant 1:1 without deviations, from EI1 30 to EI2 120. From product development and customisation to installation, including technical control and maintenance, STÖBICH offers you fire protection solutions from a single source – as a convenient all-round carefree package, made in Germany. Further information and application examples can be found in the white paper, which you can request using the contact form.

All the information at a glance

      Heat-insulating textile
Thanks to its insulating properties, the system can be integrated into almost any construction and provides heat insulation in the event of a fire for up to 120 minutes. This means that you do not need any additional compensation measures as with non-heat-insulating textile fire curtains and you can use the directly adjacent room for your purposes without restriction.

      Small installation space
The fabric is only a few millimetres thick, enabling smaller housings and guide rail dimensions. The closure has the rolling kinematics of a roller door and requires only a small installation space above the wall opening. In addition, the patented lintel locking mechanism means that the covering of the winding shaft is optional. This allows the installation dimension to be reduced even further.

      Easy planning
The product is fire-retardant, highly fire-retardant and fire-resistant and meets the building regulations requirements 1:1 without any deviations, from EI1 30 to EI2 120 – tightly closing and self-closing (C) as well as smoke-tight at ambient temperature (Sa).

      Cost-effective even for large dimensions
Fibershield®-I fire curtains also close extremely large openings in the event of a fire and create unusual design possibilities with a good price-performance ratio – where conventional standard solutions are not sufficient.

      Resource-saving
Due to the reduced use of CO2-emitting steel and steel plate, Fibershield®-I leaves a greener footprint than conventional solid fire doors even during production. The packaging consists of 80% recycled materials and is, among other things, FSC®-certified.

      Innovation you can touch

With the mobile fire container, you can personally see the performance of modern textile fire protection products, for example at trade fairs and events. The heat-insulating STÖBICH fire protection fabric is installed in the container, and its protective effect is demonstrated inside the container in a simulated full-scale fire. Touching the textile, you can experience at first hand how the thin fabric of Fibershield®-I does indeed heat up noticeably – enough so that you can feel it – but still effectively seals off fire, smoke and heat.
