One of the largest hospitals of the Netherlands has been in the heart of the city of Rotterdam. The exposed location not only ensures excellent infrastructure but also defines one of the key requirements of the new building: Networking! The hospital is like a health town in the midst of the city, featuring streets, town squares and green spaces.
The roofed market square is an important aspect. The longest section of this area has a length of 300 meters. A 20-metre-long passageway links the old buildings to the new ones. All areas are easily accessible from here. Due to the atrium character and the laid-back atmosphere, the environment doesn't give the impression of a hospital and offers a central space for patients, staff and visitors.
